A comparison of semi-Lagrangian vortex method and lattice Boltzmann method for incompressible flows

The semi-Lagrangian Vortex method (VM) and the Lattice Boltzmann (LBM) are used to investigate flows simulations in incompressible regime. In this study, a proven version of each is compared on different three dimensional benchmarks terms numerical accuracy, convergence, diffusion dissipation. first comparisons made convected vortex study compare dissipation LBM VM. Then Taylor–Green investigated rate kinetic energy method. It shown that both methods converge same solution but way. VM performs better than for lowest resolution whereas appears be more accurate growing resolutions. These results confirmed 3D with wall boundaries stiff test case wake behind cube at Re=290 Re=570.
